ReTWEAK @ Kendal Calling FestivalKendal Calling Festival 2009 was an awe inspiring weekend party in the Lakes, it saw the likes of The Streets, The Zutons, Andrew Weatherall, Shy FX, Skream, PBR Streetgang, Howard Marks and Crazy P partying 6000 strong in a scenic deer park just off the M6. A good few members of the retweak crew went up to get involved. Our home for most of the weekend was 'The Traffic Stage'. Leeds based Traffic magazine did the job well and represented hard for the electronic community. Nito, Lozarez and Sean Read showed what the traffic residents were made of & ReTweak artists Mata, Mundros & Hot Sand got a fair few opportunities to entertain the crowd too. First up we saw Mata open the tent on the friday night with an interesting back to back set with Richard Silk and Jay Kilka of Technique. Hot Sand then pulled out a few bits of equipment from their studio and rocked out an energetic live house and techno set. Unfortunately our friends 'Death on the Balcony' could not make it for their slot so retweak artists Mata & Mundros were asked to jump on last minute in a scrambling effort to warm up for Aim. The rest of the weekend proved to be a bit of a blur for most of those involved, but the beaming smiles throughout the weekend and the smell of nostalgia in the air on the last night suggested the job was done right. |
