Full Chart1. Trus'me - "Browns" - Still No Check EP - Prime Numbers www.myspace.com/trusme
First
up released in 2008 by Manchester's finest Trus'me. I absolutely love
his stuff and over the last two years this guy has never failed come up
with the goods. Its short but sweet, really slung back with a solid
groove. Its the kind of track that will either make you want to get
stoned or have sex, either way your on a winner.
2. Henry L - "Wake Up" - Basement EP - Farside Records www.myspace.com/henrylmusic
This
is by far the strongest release on the EP. Released on the wicked
Farside Records coming out of Dortmund Germany. Really nice sleazed out
groove that just chugs all the way to the bank. Perfect warm up tackle
and even though we are well out of summer now wack this on and the
summer vibes will shine on through.
3. Newworldaquarium - "Tresspassers" (541 dub mix) - Tresspassers EP - NWAQ (DELSIN) www.myspace.com/newworldaquarium
This is then new release from Jochem Peteri under his Newworldaquarium guise released on his own NWAQ Label from the Netherlands. There has been some amazing talent to come out of Amsterdam over recent years and this chap is definitely up there. This is the 541 dub which is definite proof that less is more. Really cool stripped back house, lovely stuff!
4. Fernando - "Scarecrows" - Scarecrows EP - Redux Records www.myspace.com/reduxrecordings
I was given this by Redux head honcho Tristan Da Cunha just before I embarked on my jollys to Ibiza last month. This is an absolute killer track and was pretty much my tune of the whole trip. From start to finish it just oozes coolness! Really slick production with an epic break down that just fills my mind with memories of hazey Ibiza sunsets. Absolutely bad boy, no messing get it in your music collection now!
5. Foolish Felix & Ray Mang - "Who Said Dub" - Who Said Boogie? EP - Eskimo Records www.myspace.com/felixdickinson
Out on the mighty Eskimo Records, this track is all about the percussion. Awesome disco groove with killer drums and a moody base line that drops in from the word go. It definitely has the "fuuuuccckkk offf" fists in the air factor! There are two other cuts on the EP But this is definitely the one that floats my boat.
6. The Oliverwho Factory - "Alone" - Alone EP - Mad Chase Inc www.maddchaise.com
Love this release from The Oliverwho Factory. Its a one track EP but the one track speaks volumes. This is a really classy timeless track. A tripped out, spacey, Detroit affair. An absolute must have for all the connoisseurs out there!
7. Glenn Vernon - "Tell Me" (Norm Talley's late night creeper mix) - Tell Me EP - Soiree Records. www.myspace.com/normtalley
Early this summer Norm Talley's "The Journey / In Yo Soul" Ep was released which went down a treat and received lots of air time. This is an oldie remix of his that was released back in 2000 but its an absolute belter that will never wear thin. Would go as far to say its one of my favourite tracks. Classic House at its best. A really solid track with a wicked looped up vocal and a heavy weight baseline that will always set the mood.
8. James Duncan - "D'Jam" - Peoples are Peoples EP - Real Soon www.myspace.com/jamesduncan
I bought this EP a few years ago now but always used to play the "you and me" track on the release and never gave this much time but played it last month and I am hucked. Really groovy cool house piece from New York's James Duncan. For all the house heads out there who haven't already checked out James Duncan have a listen to his releases on Le Systeme Records as well, big thumbs up from me.
9. Atmosfear - "Dancing In Outerspace" ( the revenge rework 2) - wolf music (US) www.myspace.com/skyrocketideas
I think its safe to say its been an absolute storming year for The Revenge (a.k.a Graeme Clark). The Scottish producer has absolutely smashed it over the last twelve months with solid releases and awesome re-edits galore and this offering is nothing short of the mark. This is his rework of Atmosfears classic "dancing in outerspace" which was originally released in 1979 on MCA Records. This has had a wicked response and Ive heard it been played out loads and in quite a few mixes and I just cant get enough of it. Epic track that just rolls on and on! :-)
10. Dirtyhaze - "New York City Jacks" - New York City Jacks EP - Redux Records www.myspace.com/reduxrecordings
This track absolutely "MEANS IT!". Pretty much ticks all the boxes for everything I would want to hear at peak time in a club. Its definitely got that old classic Chicago Trax Records sound. This is another one of the tracks that really made Ibiza for me this summer, not sure when this is gunna be getting released but its another sterling release from Drrtyhaze and the crew at Redux. Keep your ears pealed for this and get your mits on a copy as soon as it drops, going to be a big one.
11. Rondenion - "Wave Amptitude" - Love Bound EP - Rush Hour www.myspace.com/rondenion
Now this dude hails all the way from the bright lights of Tokyo and is definitely one to check out and keep an eye on. If you love classy production and tight grooves this fellas your man, hes definitely got the disco/house tip locked down. Released on the Rush Hour imprint this is wicked peak time house production. This a really moody track which has a great edge to it and I love the strings. Definitely going to create some atmosphere on the dance floor. Looking forward to hearing more from this guy in the future.
12. Bopstag - "In Deep" (original) - In Deep EP - Re:Tweak Records www.myspace.com/retweakrecords
Here we have the new release on Re:Tweak from the fresh prince of Saltaire... Daniel Carroll under his Bopstag guise. Can see this getting rinsed, this is a wicked house track which has great appeal and all the right elements. When I first heard it it kind of reminded me of a Kerri Chandler tune. The bit that does it for me is the accent on the vocal, nice bit of northern house! I have been friends with Danny for a few years now and I love the music he makes, plays and his general out look on music. This vibe sums him up.... Top Notch!
13. Jerome Sydenham - Jango 01(original mix) - Ibadan Records www.myspace.com/ibadan
This is the latest big hitter from the awesome Jerome Sydenham. Big room track with a killer brake down. When this drops you know the dance floors only gunna go one way. Love the vocal in this track also. Realy cool peak time joint and I am sure it will get absolutley spanked to high heaven over the coming months. :-)
14. Lil' Louis & The World - "The Conversation" - I Called You EP - Epic Records www.myspace.com/lillouistheworld
Now there have been a lot of people over the years and recentley who have tried to drop the saxophone vibe but this has to be the daddy. From the word go its rocking and the sax in it sounds ace. Its a pretty rare record so If you manage to get hold of this or if you already have a copy play it loud, timeless classic. Always gauranteed to rock the spot!
